The NZ Principals Federation Conference will be three days of learning and inspiration with the conference title ‘Remarkably Different’ referencing the stunning physical backdrop of The Remarkables Range. It also signals the intention of the NZPF Executive to align this annual and pre-eminent professional development opportunity more closely to the strategic aims and objectives of the organisation.
The whakatauki chosen for this conference also refers to its location on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. It could also be seen as a metaphor for the difficult yet rewarding moments often facing principals in the job they do. In this context it is important that principals remember to look after themselves and their staff, so the emphasis in 2017 will be on principal leadership and hauora.
The structure of the conference will be that of 45-minute plenary sessions throughout each day, linking to the NZPF kawa which encompasses the elements of:
- Manaakitanga; Leading with moral purpose
- Pono; Having self-belief
- Ako; Being a learner
- Awhinatanga; Guiding and supporting
